Guthrie

Martin has a broad commercial practice, including advice and appearance work in the areas of property law, contract, corporations, trade practices, equity and trusts, taxation, building and construction, and bankruptcy and insolvency.

Martin has experience in all jurisdictions, appearing with and without a leader. Martin recently appeared as junior counsel in a three month arbitration arising out of a large, complex contractual dispute. He is regularly briefed in trials and interlocutory matters in the Magistrates’ Court, VCAT, the County Court, the Supreme Court and the Federal Court.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Martin practised as a commercial litigator. Martin subsequently practised in the London office of an international law firm.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the University of Oxford and a first class honours degree in law from the Australian National University.

Prior to commencing practice, Martin was Associate to Justice Paul Finn of the Federal Court of Australia.
